The Representative Body of the Church in Wales is both a Royal Charter Company and a Registered Charity. One of the largest charities in Wales, it holds most of the financial and property assets of the Church and its staff provide services and specialist advice across Wales so that the Church’s work of mission and ministry is securely supported and well resourced.
We are looking for a Director of Property Services who will manage a team of 22 professional property staff that are involved in the whole breadth of church property. The team manages some property directly (parsonages, closed churches and halls, glebe and provincial properties) and provides guidance and help to those that manage other property (churches, church halls, churchyards and parish property).
The team works in three main areas of specialism
- Secular property: Parsonage and glebe Ecclesiastical Property: closed churches, church support Support: Bishop’s houses, St Padarns Institute, specific building projects, administration, property legal services
The ideal candidate should be a Chartered Surveyor with a minimum of 10 years’ experience of general practice work. They should be able to demonstrate experience of building and managing a high performing team of professional staff and developing staff in their roles.
We are looking for someone who is a confident manager of people whilst having a broad-based knowledge of Property to guide the team in their work. Furthermore, the ability to make sound judgements on property matters balancing competing demands is key.
The will be located in the National office in Callaghan Square, Cardiff, but the role does require some flexibility in terms of working hours and location. Hybrid working is available, but you will be expected to attend the office for a minimum of two days a week and conduct site visits as required.
