An exciting opportunity has become available to work in the Information Rights Team within Audit & Risk Management. We are looking for a dedicated individual with an eye for detail to join Cheshire East Council’s Information Rights Team as a Disclosure Officer. This post is a full time fixed term contract for two years and is available as an internal secondment opportunity.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Information Rights Team directly supports the Council’s commitment to being an “open” organisation and working transparently with our residents, businesses and partners to deliver our ambition in Cheshire East. You will support the Information Rights Team in responding to requests for disclosure of personal data under the General Data Protection Regulation and other information rights legislation. This will involve ensuring requests are completed within the statutory timescales, that redaction and exemptions are applied appropriately, and providing advice to individuals, internal departments and third party agencies exercising their rights.
The role includes the review of detailed records, particularly children’s social care, and deciding what information can be shared with the requester and what needs to be removed in accordance with legislation. Undertaking redaction prior to disclosure and ensuring appropriate exemptions are used is a key part of the role and a keen eye for detail will be required.
