Job description

We are looking for an individual who would like to join the Doctoral College on a fixed-term basis until December 2024 to support the Doctoral Training and development programme. You will provide operational support to our Doctoral Training programme. We have over 80 unique workshops and activities, so we need someone who is confident, organised with an eye for detail so these sessions are well organised and can run smoothly. In addition to the training programme, you will take responsibility for managing our doctoral events and will be involved in some programme delivery. We run networking events, induction sessions, competitions, as well as writing retreats. We’re looking for someone who is able to organise and deliver on many of these activities. Having supervisory experience will also help, as you’ll be responsible for managing staff associated with these events. Working in a Training and development role is exciting as new trends emerge all the time. You will need to be comfortable working in a changing landscape and confident in managing multiple pieces of work at once. About you To be successful in the role you will need to: enjoy working in a fast-paced and evolving and changing environment you will enjoy working with students and will be interested in their development and improving the student experience you will be an excellent planner, have strong communication skills and will be able to connect with people be open-minded and willing to try new things and new ways of working have excellent organisational skills as you will need to manage various projects and work to deadlines Further information The Doctoral College provides support to all prospective and current doctoral students to enable them to join and thrive in our research community. This role will be located within the Doctoral Development Team which comprises of 2FTE roles, with some additional administrative support. We provide a supportive working environment. Colleagues are currently working hybrid with some of their time at home and some time on campus. For this role, there is an expectation that you will have to be on campus for approximately 2-3 working days per week. You will also be expected to be on campus for any planned events and activities. This is a fixed-term contract for up to 6 months to cover a period of parental leave until December 2024.
