Overview:
This is a full time role working in quarantine/isolation kennels, dealing with some of our large dogs, especially bull and guarding breeds. These dogs are brought in for a variety of reasons and bring significant challenging behaviour which requires a hands off approach, whilst still ensuring we meet their care and welfare needs.

Working 8.30am-5pm, 4 days on, 2 days off on a rolling rota to include weekends and bank holidays.
The position attracts a starting salary in line with minimum wage.
Responsibilities:
- · Maintain a high standard of care and welfare to all dogs, and ensure the kennels, runs and surroundings are kept clean and tidy at all times.
· Prepare feed in accordance with individual dogs’ requirements, and meet the welfare needs by following any administration of medical treatments.
· Complete daily kennel and behaviour records
· Supervise deliveries of stock.
Requirements:
· It is essential that the post holder has a genuine interest in the health and welfare of our dogs.
· Competent and confident in handling large breed dogs with a variety of temperaments, including some with potentially challenging behaviours.
· The ability to demonstrate these skills is very important as is previous kennel experience.
· Responsible, conscientious and mature attitude to work with attention to detail. We are looking for someone hard-working and able to use their initiative.
· Organisation and self-motivation are very important traits as you will be working mainly on your own. You must also be comfortable working in a team during busy periods and helping other staff to ensure the business runs smoothly.
· As we are a small team, it is vital that our new Kennel Assistant is personable, confident around members of public and other organisations such as council wardens and RSPCA officers, and able to work well with our other staff.
· Flexibility needed, you may be required to work additional shifts at short notice.
· You must hold a current UK driving licence, and your own transport is essential due to the location of the kennels.
