Personal Assistant Job Description
Job Title: Personal Assistant.
Hours of Work:
Sunday for 3 hours - 9am to 12pm
Rate of Pay: £10.90 per hour.
Pen Picture of the Person Requiring Assistance:
School describe me as being happy to engage in and explore a wider range of activities. I like to be around other pupils but I am also happy to play on my own or share an activity with the staff. I love books and story time; I can give my attention for extended periods of time when sharing a book.
Mum and dad say I love water and puddles, I am sociable and enjoy being with people. I am a happy loving child who makes my parents laugh at home.
I am a 4 year old boy living in Cilfrew. I have autism, global developmental delay and speech and language difficulties. This affects my speech and level of understanding. I have started to use some words and I will try and make sense of my world.
I would like to make new friends, go out and explore my community and give my Mum and Dad a break.
Tasks Include:
• An outing into the community
• Helping me to explore and learn new things
• Helping me stay safe
• Helping me with my personal care if I need my nappy to be changed
• Helping my parents take care of me
Personal Qualities and Attributes required:
A person who is:
• Fun and friendly
• Someone who is patient and will take time to communicate with me
• Someone reliable and responsible
• Some experience of working with children with autism and communication difficulties would be an advantage
• Car driver preferred but not essential
Additional Information:
This post may require a DBS check (the cost of which will be met by NPTCBC). If this post requires you to work with children then it is compulsory for you to have a DBS check prior to commencement.
If requested by the employer, two satisfactory references must be provided. This post is subject to a trial period of 1 month and a probationary period of up to 6 months.
Wages will be paid on a 4 weekly basis once a valid National Insurance (NI) number has been provided. You must be eligible to work in the UK and your employer will conduct document checks prior to commencement.
You will receive the appropriate annual leave entitlement as well as all other statutory entitlements, details of which will be set out in your contract of employment. You will also be issued with a Personal Assistants Handbook when your employment commences.
You will be expected to undertake any mandatory training identified as relevant to this post. The cost of mandatory training will be met through the direct payment. Failure to attend mandatory training may result in your employment offer being withdrawn.
