Personal Assistant Job Description
Job Title: Personal Assistant.
Hours of Work: 4 hours per week – to be used mainly on the weekends but there is a possibility of the hours being used during the week during school holidays.
Rate of Pay: £10.90 per hour.
Pen Picture of the Person Requiring Assistance:
I am an 11 year old boy living in the Velindre area of Port Talbot. I have many interests such as watching YouTube and Disney Plus. I love watching the Minions, Sesame Street and Blaze and the Monster Machines. I am very good at drawing and enjoy drawing characters like Among Us. I also love playing with cars and dinosaurs. I like to have a routine and enjoy going to Costa once a week. It’s really important that my routine is not disrupted as much as possible. I love to climb but I have no fear so need a Personal Assistant to watch me at all times to ensure my safety. I am very, very busy and I have lots of energy and like to run around outdoors so you will have to keep a constant and watchful eye on me. I love going to the Beach as this is my happy place. I love to dig and play in the sand but sometimes like to swim in the water so you would need to come in with me to ensure I don’t go out too far. I love going for walks outside and love going on bear hunts with my family.
Tasks Include:
• High level of continual supervision. This is required at all times (I am unable to be left unattended)
• Maintain my safety
• Support me to go out and do the things I enjoy
• Provide me with support with personal care as and when required
• Support me with toileting and changing my continence aids.
Personal Qualities and Attributes required:
A person who:
• Can provide me with the high level of supervision needed to keep me safe
• is patient and understanding
• has experience of Autism (preferred but not essential)
• is First Aid Trained (this can be provided)
• has good communication skills
• is reliable/consistent
• is confident in dealing with situations quickly
• Car driver preferred
Additional Information:
This post may require a DBS check (the cost of which will be met by NPTCBC). If this post requires you to work with children then it is compulsory for you to have a DBS check prior to commencement.
If requested by the employer, two satisfactory references must be provided. This post is subject to a trial period of 1 month and a probationary period of up to 6 months.
Wages will be paid on a 4 weekly basis once a valid National Insurance (NI) number has been provided. You must be eligible to work in the UK and your employer will conduct document checks prior to commencement.
You will receive the appropriate annual leave entitlement as well as all other statutory entitlements, details of which will be set out in your contract of employment. You will also be issued with a Personal Assistants Handbook when your employment commences.
You will be expected to undertake any mandatory training identified as relevant to this post. The cost of mandatory training will be met through the direct payment. Failure to attend mandatory training may result in your employment offer being withdrawn.
