We are looking to appoint a Driver Labourer/Assistant Store-person to join our multi-disciplinary maintenance team responsible for the operation and maintenance of a wide range of services throughout the University Estate.
You will be a member of our Logistics Team supporting our all-trades maintenance service provision to the wider University community. As a member of a small team, you will respond to transportation and general labouring requirements as required on a daily basis. You will assist in our stores service provision by liaising with and responding to trades and other staff requests at our stores counter service by identifying, picking and delivering requested goods. You will assist other University personnel in their duties, and you will have driving duties on all unit vehicles along with associated servicing and cleaning. You will complete any other general duties as required.
You should have a good general education, with ideally a city and guild/NVQ qualification in a building/engineering discipline, relevant to the role. You should have extensive and relevant experience within a general maintenance environment and have a willingness to learn new and specialist skills.
You should be flexible in your approach to work, have a good general education, excellent communication skills, be highly motivated, have a helpful manner and possess a clean driving licence which entitles you to drive a minibus up to 9 seat capacity. The ability to cope well when under pressure and the ability to demonstrate a flexible approach without supervision is essential. You should be able to work effectively both independently and as a team member. Excellent terms and conditions apply – 36.25 hours/week (working hours will vary between the hours of 7am and 6pm and specific timings will vary between work colleagues to suit any operational needs); 30 days annual leave plus 5 statutory days; contributory pension scheme.
