We have a great opportunity for an experienced Duty Planning Manager to join the Civil Nuclear Constabulary at their location in Sellafield Cumbria.

Job Purpose:-
Manage a team of Duty Planners and ensure the provision of an efficient and effective Duty Planning service for all police officers and rostered police staff within their area of responsibility.
PLEASE NOTE YOU MUST HAVE RESIDED WITHIN THE UK CONTINUOUSLY FOR AT LEAST 5 YEARS THIS IS DUE TO THE POLICE VETTING CRITERIA. ANYTHING LESS THAN THIS WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED.
Principal Accountabilities:
Manage the Duty Planning function end-to-end, ensuring an effective deployment and training management service for units / departments within their area of responsibility. Ensuring that rosters are published within agreed timescales and in compliance with operational and legal requirements.
Manage and develop a team of Duty Planners, motivating and engaging them to ensure the achievement of excellent standards and a high performing team. This includes drawing up a structured induction programme to cover all necessary areas of knowledge, as well as ongoing development activity.
Support Divisional Management teams by providing specialist advice and guidance on all aspects of Duty Planning, including impact assessments, reports and analysis of data extracted from DMS, where applicable. Also providing coaching to Divisional line managers on effective system usage.
On behalf of Divisional Management, provide information on staffing levels against establishment to the Workforce Planner, identifying critical vacancies and other shortfalls, making recommendations as to permanent / temporary staffing requirements and liaising on the released dates for transferring employees and assessing the impact of flexible working applications.
DMS system administrator able to undertake locally required system configuration activities for the Divisions / Departments within their area of responsibility, having highly specialised technical knowledge of the system, handling queries from Duty Planners and ensuring best use of the system within their area.
Support DMS Specialists and the Head of Duty Planning with complex configuration changes, patches and upgrades. This may include supporting testing or business change activity associated with the roll out of changes.
Close liaison with training departments, particularly in relation to catch-up and development needs.
Undertake to be the Duty Planning lead in one of more areas on behalf of all three planning teams, for example; various training streams, flexible working, police staff rostering or tactical lead for pre-planned Home Office deployments.
Where the team is split between multiple locations, the post holder will be required to travel regularly.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- Ability to motivate and lead a team
- Minimum 3 years' experience using with the Crown DMS as a planner
- Experience of managing change in the workplace
- Experience of problem solving & decision making
- Excellent organisational & interpersonal skills at all levels
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
