We are currently looking for two confident and motivated individuals to join the Think Family Partnership in the new position of Early Intervention Children’s Support Officer.

The Think Family Partnership delivers services for children, young people and families in Neath Port Talbot with a focus on providing early help and support.

You will be responsible for working directly with children (predominantly but not exclusively 10 years of age and under) identified through Early Intervention and Prevention Panel to help address their specific needs and to encourage positive behaviours. You will work closely with the council’s Early Intervention parenting service to ensure consistent messages of support between children and their parents, providing children with the tools to improve their resilience, health and wellbeing.

The main duties of the post;

  • To provide engaging support to a caseload of children, working from an agreed, co-produced plan for outcomes for the chid and family.
  • To provide a broad range of support and activities to help children understand their behaviours and to encourage positive and sustainable changes.
  • To attend EIP Panel to discuss support needs for children and how this could be addressed.
  • To establish effective relationships with children and their carers, and facilitate regular opportunities to offer feedback on progress.
  • To work closely with schools and education teams to help support the child’s ongoing engagement with learning.
  • To be flexible with regards to working hours, including evenings and weekends, to ensure that support is provided at a time that is suitable for the child and family, and that helps support the identified needs.

You will have experience of;

  • Working directly with children, young people and families
  • Assessing needs and interpreting these into actions
  • Working in partnership with other agencies
  • Effective communication with different groups, including children and their carers.

Ideally you will have;

  • A higher-level qualification - level 5 or above - in a relevant subject
  • Knowledge and understanding of issues facing children, young people and families
  • The ability to support a wide variety of behaviours with appropriate and positive responses.
  • Excellent administration, IT and planning skills.
  • The ability to speak Welsh

If you intend on applying for this position via a secondment opportunity, you must seek approval from your current manager before submitting an application form.

If you think that you have the necessary experience and qualifications for this role, we would love to hear from you.
