We are looking for passionate and ambitious Early Years Practitioners who will join the Westwood Nursery education team to ensure the successful running of the nursery.
Westwood Nursery at the University of Bath provides care and education to around 48 young children between the ages 6 months to 5 years. Opening on site in 1977, we are extremely proud of our ‘Ofsted Outstanding’ record, which we have held since 2015, and we work closely with many other departments within the University of Bath to ensure the safety, wellbeing and best possible education for children.
We currently have full-time and part-time opportunities available; if you are interested in joining us, please get in touch!
About the role
Working for Westwood Nursery at the University of Bath is not like working for a 'big' corporate company. We provide care and education to children, mostly from staff and students at the University, enabling them the opportunity to work, study and make a real difference to the education we provide and research outcomes we achieve.
Our campus offers a safe environment to enrich the children's development − from woodland walks and trips to see the ducks at our pond, to experiencing the energy within our sports village. We offer a safe, caring and stimulating environment where children can learn and develop to their full potential. Every child at the Nursery is seen as an individual, and we support all needs, abilities and interests.
As an Early Years Practitioner, you will play a key role in assisting the Room Leader and team in providing high quality childcare and education appropriate to the age and stage of development of the children. You will work to maintain a safe, secure and caring environment.
You will be required to complete tasks line with the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage. A core responsibility is planning and providing safe, appropriate, child-led and adult-initiated experiences, activities and play opportunities indoor, outdoor and in out-of-setting contexts, which enable children to develop and learn.
About you
- Hold relevant qualifications (minimum NVQ Level 3 in Childcare and Education or above)
- Be required to complete tasks line with the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage
- Have knowledge and understanding of the EYFS curriculum with the ability to support the development of our children
- Plan and provide safe and appropriate, child-led and adult-initiated experiences which enable children to develop and learn
- Be a good team player with sound communication and organisation skills
- Be able to produce written documentation to support the progress of individual children, being sensitive to their needs
- Maintain children’s records and carry out assessments, ensuring all policies and procedures are adhered to and implemented in the Nursery
Further information
Westwood Nursery opening times are between 08:30 - 17:45, Monday - Friday.
For an informal discussion about the role please contact Cara Ratukalou, Nursery Manager.
An Enhanced Disclosure Baring Service (DBS) clearance will be required for this post.
