Salary: £26,788 - £30,751 (pro rata for sessional)
Hours: 36 per week, 39 weeks sessional
The hours are Mondays to Thursdays 7.45am to 4.00pm and Fridays 7.45am to 12.45pm.
Canal View Primary School serves the community of Wester Hailes. The school has a broad social mix and the catchment contains areas of multiple deprivation with 70% of our learners living in SIMD 1 and 2. The school receives both Positive Action funding and Pupil Equity funding. Canal View Primary School is organised into fifteen classes from P1-7 and has a Nursery offering 64 full-time places.
The school is led by a management team of a Head Teacher, Depute Head Teacher, Principal Teacher and a Business Manager. There are eighteen class teachers and three part-time Support for Learning Teachers ably supported by a School Administrator, Pupil Support Assistants, two Pupil Support Officers and a Facilities Technician. The Nursery has a Senior Early Years Officer, an Early Years Officer, a team of Early Years Practitioners, Early Years Assistants and Early Years Domestic Assistants.

Early Years Practitioners working in services registered with SCSWIS must either be registered with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) prior to appointment or register within 6 months of the date of your appointment and maintain registration throughout the period of employment.
This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
