JobPurpose: As part of a small ecology team led by a Senior Ecology Officer, you will provide ecology advice to the planning service, developers and agents on a range of development proposals to secure the best outcomes for biodiversity in accordance with relevant legislation, policy and guidance. You will focus primarily on major and large-scale development proposals, ranging from housing and industrial sites to major infrastructure and renewables schemes. You will provide consistent and proportionate assessment of planning applications, including the review and approval of technical and specialist reports, recommendation of suitable planning conditions and mitigation strategies and the delivery of positive improvements for biodiversity.

You will contribute to policy development and assist the Senior Ecology Officer in preparing responses to local and national consultations as required. You will also respond to enquiries relating to ecology and biodiversity from Council services, elected Members, developers and the public.

Requirements

An honours degree in ecology or a related discipline.  

Evidence of a continuing commitment to personal and professional development. 

Membership of a relevant professional body, or commitment to work towards such. 

A full UK driving licence or access to transport.
