Job Description


We are looking for a Geoscience Advisor with extensive experience in Mediterranean and Middle East Geology to join our EDA team!

Reporting to the Director for Europe, North Africa and Middle East, you will be focusing on Mediterranean and Middle East Geology and responsible for providing G&G support to team as a technical advisor, helping to ensure new projects created have a robust technical case. As a Geoscience Advisor you will have a crucial role in refining and evolving EDA’s regional offerings by leveraging your advanced geoscience knowledge and insights. Ability to technically demonstrate how our products and solutions help our customers improve efficiencies is of prime importance.

Teamwork and collaboration are at the heart of our ethos and the successful candidate will need to fit into the team. Fluency in additional regional languages will be a plus.

This role is at the confluence of many CGG Business Lines and external stakeholders (partners, governments, etc.), and has as a major challenge to deal efficiently and collaboratively with multiple stakeholders and ensure the business objectives are met.

Working with other members of the EDA team, the successful candidate will be required to quickly use their experience and expertise to:

  • Deliver screening studies to identify new multi-client project opportunities and evaluate the sub-surface context (Petroleum Geology, Regional and Basin Geology, Geological & Structural Seismic Interpretation, Tectono-stratigraphy, seismic imaging challenges, etc.), scope the main objectives and input for seismic acquisition design and processing sequence.
  • Enhance the value and understanding of our multi-client seismic data through internal geological studies, seismic interpretations and the production of solid case studies which could develop into the production of commercial products.
  • Generate and present compelling technical presentations and case studies demonstrating the value we bring to clients.
  • Creating robust materials for technical marketing and build/deliver/present technical marketing materials (i.e., technical articles, written publication, conference presentations, technical brochures, adverts, webinars, etc.);
  • Ensure seismic interpretation databases and copies of geoscience project deliverables are correctly maintained, populated and securely managed;
  • Work closely with Earth Data Sales Managers and Business Development Managers to deliver the business strategy;
  • Ability to carry-out the technical tasks autonomously, solve geoscience problems in relatively complex basin settings, provide balanced technical advice to the Sale Managers and Business Development Managers.
  • Actively participate and contribute to peer-review process for the Geologist community with EDA.

The successful candidate will be expected to spend approximately 15% of their time traveling to client offices, conferences, and external meetings which will often be overseas.

For this role, you will be based in our Crawley office, working in a hybrid arrangement with the possibility to work remotely for up to two days per week.


Qualifications


PhD or Master’s Degree in Geology or Geophysics

Skills and Experiences:

  • Minimum eight years of experience in a similar role focused in Geology
  • Demonstrable history of subject matter expertise in geological and seismic data, with a focus on Multi-client geological products evidenced by peer reviewed publications, journals, and conference presentations.
  • Demonstrable experience in petroleum geology, play evaluation and prospect generation.
  • Demonstrable experience in extracting and handling seismic data attributes, as well as integrating geological, well, and seismic data.
  • Wide network of personal connections within the regional technical exploration community
  • Effective communication skills, both internally and externally.
  • Exceptional presentation and client interaction abilities.
  • Familiarity with GIS, preferably ArcPro.
  • Self-motivated, highly organized, and detail-oriented.
  • Ability to break down complex problems into actionable steps.
  • Advanced proficiency in the English language (reading, writing, and speaking). Additional language proficiency would be desirable
  • Collaborative team player with intellectual curiosity, capable of working across various teams.
