We are looking for an experienced journalist to lead the team which puts together our weekly titles across Scotland.
Each week a small team of journalists produce the best content for 19 great local newspapers which serve communities from Peterhead to the Scottish Borders.
The team curates content from community and other sources to make our weekly local papers the best, most relevant weekly reads in their areas.
We need someone who lives by deadlines, can wrangle copy, images and our content management system, as well as lead and organise a small team each and every week.
Spotting the best stories of the week, writing great headlines and knowing how to curate content are the key skills which will make a success in this role.
There are options to work out of our Glasgow or Edinburgh offices or from home.
Skills/experience
- Journalist qualification (or relevant time-served experience)
- First-class organisational skills
- An excellent understanding of newspapers and the ability to generate fresh new ideas.
- Adaptable and flexible
- Creativity and flair
- Excellent attention to detail
- Self-motivated and able to give instruction as well as manage own workload efficiently
- Ability to work quickly and effectively under deadline pressure
- Flexible approach to shifts
- Up-to-date knowledge of media law and IPSO code
