Do you have a passion for working with students? Are you a great communicator? If so, we have the perfect role for you as an Education Executive. As an Education Executive, your main focus will be supporting the Membership Recruitment & Engagement Manager with member engagement, paying particular attention to student members.
Alongside the interests and challenges of the role, we know that candidates also want to be enthused about the mission and values of the organisation they might be joining.
IStructE is a charity and the professional body for structural engineers. We have a global membership who have designed many of the world’s iconic structures as well as many of the buildings and bridges we take almost for granted in our daily lives.
Creating safer structures for the benefit of the public is at the heart of our remit, and this includes environmental sustainability with structural engineers and the Institution at the heart of the impact construction has on natural resources and climate change.
We are passionate about inclusion and work hard to help those with talent, irrespective of background, to find and develop a route into the profession. Many of our members work to support the world’s most vulnerable communities, especially those living in places prone to natural hazards such as earthquakes and extreme flooding.
If working as part of a staff team of about 74 people, and alongside many of our members, to address these issues appeals to you, then we would love to hear from you.
The Role:
A key task for the Education Officer, in conjunction with the Membership Recruitment & Engagement Manager, is to maintain relationships with our Student Liaison Officers (SLOs) to increase the number of free student members in universities and colleges all around the world and ultimately increase membership numbers further by promoting collaboration between the Institution and education providers.
Part of this role will also be to act as secretary to the Education Committee and Young Members’ Panel. The Education Committee help shape our education strategy and how to best supply our members with education resources and training. Our Young Members Panel represents the views of younger members of the profession and develops initiatives for members aged under 35.

- In-depth knowledge of academic qualifications
- Exceptional communication skills (written and verbal)
- Intermediate Excel skills
