Keen to start your environmental education career? Come and help our team during our busy summer season!

  • Fixed term contract for 10 weeks due to commence on 13 May 2024 and end on 21 July 2024
  • Full time – average 37.5 hours per week
  • Salary equates to circa £11.44 per hour
  • We have accommodation available for the duration of the contract, so you could spend your summer with the Lake District National Park on your doorstep!

What you’ll be doing

As our Education Support assistant, you are an integral part of our education team and will support us to carry out a smooth delivery of our field courses and environmental activities.

This will involve preparing fieldwork equipment and classrooms for learners of all abilities, ensuring areas are clean and safe for use. As well as organise lesson and health and safety resources for our learning groups.

You may be required to accompany teaching staff on field trips, assist students with their fieldwork, help run environmental or problem-solving games and aid teaching staff in the collection of class data.

You will be flexible to our ever-changing learning environment and be happy to assist where required to ensure our centre always runs efficiently.

Where you’ll be based

Field Studies Council Castle Head is located in south Cumbria between the coast of Morecambe Bay and the Lake District National Park. The centre is set in 30 acres of grounds with a diversity of habitats including woodland, grassland and freshwater.

With over 150 beds, 5 workrooms, a meeting room to seat up to 120 and a sports hall we cater for most group needs and deliver a wide range of programmes in field studies and adventurous activities.

A degree or equivalent in a relevant subject is desirable but not essential, it is more important to us that you have:
