An important position for an experienced Health and Safety professional with a valued client based in North Dublin. The EHS Officer will focus on ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation, in addition to developing the company’s health and safety management system.
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
Effectively communicate HSE policies, standards procedures, and practices to colleagues and key stakeholders.
Reduce risk, losses, and exposure to the company by implementing Safety Management System (dSMS), standards and processes aligned to industry best practices and local regulatory requirements.
Carry out workplace safety audits and ensure that any remedial recommendations are implemented.
Ensuring HSE training plays an integral part in training plans.
Incident reporting and investigation.
Investigate, prepare and report incident findings including recommendations to prevent recurrence and implement approved course of action.
Provide technical expertise, advice, support, and direction to the businesses on all matters related to Occupational Health & Safety, Environment, and Incident Management.
Reviewing and updating local internal health and safety policy and procedures in line with company best practice.
Take over the implementing of Global health processes including health standards, health monitoring and reporting as well as occupational health & hygiene risk mitigation.
Identifying potential hazards and developing mitigation strategies.
Carry out risk assessments as necessary for all areas of the business under current Health & Safety legislation.
Maintain compliance to EHS training for all colleagues.
Occassional site visits around Ireland.
Monitor and Develop emergency response plans that address potential emergency situations. Implement training as necessary to responsible persons.
Ensure drills are conducted and corrective actions are identified and implemented as required.
IDEAL CANDIDATE
5+ years experience in a similar role
Warehouse/Logistics or manufacturing environment experience preferred
Degree in Health & Safety Management or equivalent
Previous knowledge and experience of the food manufacturing or food safety industry is desirable.
Training and audit qualifications from a recognized institute or organisation.
Relevant experience in accident and incident investigation focusing on loss control, exposure elimination and root cause.
Relevant experience in environmental management systems and performance enhancements to reduce environmental footprint.
Full drivers license and the ability to travel.
Up to date knowledge of health and safety legislation and industry best practices.
