Job Summary:
The Electrical and Instrumentation Engineer will be responsible for the design and development of the Electrical and Instrumentation portion relating to the control and safe operation of Boiler burners, Flares and flare ignition systems, Thermal Oxidisers, Process Burners and Vapour and Flare Gas Recovery projects. This will require the selection of correct instrumentation and design of the control system to meet specific requirements of the end user and the products.
Job duties include but are not limited to:
- Review project file and confirm Electrical, Instrumentation and Controls scope of supply based on customer specifications and sales quotation.
- Development of the P&ID's as per the customer symbols and Legends and as per the as sold proposal.
- Preparation of Instrument Data sheets
- Preparation of Electrical drives (VSD) and MCC data sheets.
- Preparation of Instrument Index document.
- Preparation of Hook-up drawings
- Review of the vendor quote and aid procurement department to purchase the same.
- Design of control panels including the drafting (AutoCAD) of PLC control panels, Motor starter panels, VSD panels, junction boxes and local control panels.
- Production of the related engineering documents such as general arrangement drawings, wiring schematics and connection diagrams.
- Preparation of BOMs and input into company business system (SAGE)
- Prepare the PLC /DCS I/O lists
- Prepare cause and effect diagrams.
- Provide the cost estimate of the controls and Instrumentation items to sales department including PLC based control systems, control valves, actuated valves, transmitters, flow meters and gauges etc.
- Participation in HAZOP, LOPA and SIL review meetings
- Perform other related duties as assigned. Some of these duties may include: -Quotation/sales support, Field/sales trips, on site commissioning support and overseas meetings.
Knowledge & Experience
10 -12 years of experience in Electrical and Instrumentation Engineering in Oil and Gas or Petrochemical industry or combustion related industry.- Relevant Degree (Instrumentation /Electrical/ Electronic Engineering) or HND and suitable experience
- Competent in LV electrical circuit design including 3-phase motor control
- Competent in PLC and electrical panel design
- Experience of PLC Systems preferable (Rockwell Automation, Siemens, Honeywell, HIMA
- Familiar with different communication systems between PLC's and DCS systems such as Modbus, RTU, TCP/IP, Profibus and Profinet.
- Familiar with the control panel building and hardwired relay and timer-based logic.
- Experience of using Electrical AutoCAD desirable
- Ability complete instrument data sheets
- Conversant with P&IDs.
- Knowledge of: Safety systems for controls, European Safety Standards, Safety Integrity Level (SIL), IEC 61508 and 61511.
- Knowledge of Hazardous area standards (ATEX)
- Knowledge of the combustion industry and applicable EN and NFPA standards) desirable
- Proficient user of Microsoft Office products
