Position: Electrical Design Engineer
Salary: 50,000
Location: Milton Keynes
Proactive currently have an exciting opportunity for a Electrical Design Engineer to begin work for a leading manufacturing and production business based in Milton Keynes.
Due to rapid company expansion and an ever growing order book, our client is hoping to recruit at least one additional Electrical Design Engineer to help ensure the quality and accuracy of the site's function is well maintained throughout this new and excited influx of work.
The Role:
- Ensure that the client's customised solutions continue to lead the industry in proper processing of food;
- Research food industry and stay on top of trends and new developments.
- Collaborate with Sales, Service, Engineering and Suppliers on customer needs, competitors and product positioning.
- You will have ownership of the design project from conception to installation so will ensure accuracy in your work and collaboration and excellent communication with key stakeholders throughout.
- Excellent communication with strategic customers throughout lifetime of project; working alongside the sales team to analyse production processes and evaluate systems performance to identify design improvement opportunities; travel to customer sites 20+%.
- Collaborate with Sales, Engineering and external product teams; initiate concept designs, propose design modifications and innovative attachments that achieve customers' new product /process requirements;
- Understand how to electrically integrate our equipment into our customer's manufacturing lines including power requirements, digital signal handshakes, Ethernet interconnects, and PLC programming.
- Generate required documentation including electrical drawings, manuals, and procedures on new projects.
- Train our technicians and customers on the electrical and controls systems of our equipment.
- Learn and understand how our supplier's equipment control systems work.
- Ability to work remotely and communicate to our customers' machines via VPN and installed communication devices.
- Maintain an up to date CAD library of electrical drawings.

Skills/Experience:
- A qualified Electrical engineer with a minimum of a Batchelors degree or an HNC in Electrical, Electromechanical, Robotics, Automation or Food Processing discipline. Or 5+ years experience in a relevant role
- You will have a current and proven track record as an Electrical Design Engineer having designed the electrical systems required for the operation of capital equipment or special purpose machinery.
- You will have experience of incorporating gearboxes, motors, PLC's, servo controllers & safety devices into machinery.
- You will have experience creating electrical drawings with AutoCAD and Draftsight.
- You will be able to efficiently troubleshoot electrical and/or control systems.
- You will be naturally inquisitive and a collaborative team player.
- You will have a hands on approach.
- Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical people via reports, emails and verbal communication.
- You will ensure accuracy in your own work as most projects are of a bespoke nature.
- You will be comfortable working autonomously and managing your time effectively within a small UK design department with additional support from a larger US team.
