Electrical/ Electronic Technical Support EngineerDegree Apprenticeship

Apprenticeship Programme

You will be working towards a level 6 Electrical/ Electronic Technical Support Engineer Degree, whilst developing your skills and knowledge with on-the-job training and experiences. You will have the opportunity to spend 20% of your week learning with an external training provider working towards an externally recognised qualification. The following 80% of your time will be based at Bentley’s headquarters in Crewe, you’ll work alongside industry-leading experts gaining practical knowledge of what you are studying, take part in corporate social responsibility initiatives and grow your networks, equipping you with personal and professional training and development to accelerate your career.

About Research & Development 

The R&D department are responsible for the entire design and development process of all Bentley products, from idea creation all the way through to engineering sign off. Our mission is to inspire our customers by creating extraordinary products through passion, collaboration and sustainable innovation. Our R&D team consists of six departments: Products & Concepts, Body & Trim, Electrical & Electronics, Vehicle Motion, Whole Vehicle Engineering and Technical Conformity. As an Apprentice at Bentley you will be working alongside and mentored by R&D industry technical experts, giving you real-life tangible experience to elevate your career journey in R&D.

There are two departmental areas available within R&D:

Environmental Testing

The Environmental Testing team is responsible for the delivery of vehicle testing and validation activities performed at Bentley. We are accountable for the delivery of market approvals of Bentley products for all global markets, whilst ensuring we meet the evolving technological needs of the business. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Collaborate with engineers to facilitate the delivery of programs and the gathering of test data and information
  • Understand vehicle validation legislation and procedures aligned to industry and Volkswagen Group standards

With the support of colleagues you will encounter a range of test disciplines from vehicle diagnostics through to delivery of Testing on a chassis dynamometer and on road Emissions testing

Whole Vehicle Engineering

Within Whole Vehicle we are responsible for engineering the finest cars in their class through a combination of; Technology, People and Strategy to develop the world’s most desirable luxury cars with the characteristics that Bentley is renowned for: “Driving, Luxury, Performance”. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Work with the team to develop hands on experience with the current and next generation of Bentley products
  • Support the implementation of the new Workshop Software package and the transition into the new Engineering technical centre
  • Support the preparation of special vehicles for use, including working on the Bentley Heritage Fleet

About you

It would be advantageous to have demonstrable experience of working in a team through extracurricular activities or part time work. In addition to an interest in learning more about the Automotive Industry and Sustainability topics. The successful candidate will:
