As an Estimator, you will:
Winning Work:
- Drive our success by producing winning tenders and nurturing key customer relationships.
- Cost Estimation: Create precise cost estimates for materials, labour, and equipment, based on customer drawings and specifications.
- Market Insight: Stay ahead of the curve by understanding current market prices and benchmarking our solutions for increased success rates.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the Business Manager to ensure compliance with procedures, business strategy, and clearance levels.
- Customer Engagement: Assist in presenting tender proposals to customers and actively participate in customer meetings throughout the tender process.
- Risk Management: Assess and adhere to all risk assessments and health and safety requirements, ensuring the safety of all stakeholders.
- Supplier Selection: Source suitable sub-contractors and specialists for each project to guarantee the highest quality standards.
- Teamwork: Collaborate effectively with Construction Managers, Planners, and the Design Team to ensure seamless project execution.
- Documentation: Prepare comprehensive documents for senior management to showcase cost calculations and project feasibility.
- Knowledge Transfer: Ensure a smooth handover of bid documentation to the commercial and project operations teams.
Qualifications and Requirements:
To excel in this role, you will need:
- Experience in pricing highway lighting, signage, smart motorway comms would be advantageous.
- Educated to degree level.
- An understanding of highways electrical infrastructure and the construction industry.
- Confidence in independently pricing projects with minimal reliance on others.
- Exceptional numeracy skills.
- Excellent IT skills, including proficiency in all Microsoft packages.
- Strong analytical capabilities for financial analysis.
- Previous experience of using costing software such as conquest would be advantageous.
- The ability to thrive in high-pressure situations and meet tight deadlines.
- Outstanding organisational skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
