Job Description

An Electrical Maintenance Technician is required for our busy Maintenance department in Hartlepool. The maintenance department ensures that all work undertaken maintains an acceptable level of quality while ensuring manufacturing efficiency is maintained. The role of Electrical Maintenance Technician ensures the machinery and plant are maintained in accordance with the planned maintenance schedule as well as the covering of breakdowns and modifications to equipment.

This is a great opportunity for someone that has significant previous experience in a maintenance or technical role, together with experience of the maintenance and repair of both electrical and mechanical machines and systems.

As an Electrical Maintenance Technician, the main responsibilities of the role are:

  • To carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and Routine inspection of electrical
    systems, to avoid preventable breakdowns.
  • Identifying faults or hazards on equipment.
  • Troubleshooting system failures.
  • PLC, and VSD Inverter drive diagnostic skills.
  • Reviewing blueprints to understand wiring placement.
  • Testing and debug of electrical systems with oscilloscopes, voltmeters, and ohmmeters.
  • Conducting general plant, machine and facilities, maintenance repairs.
  • Responding to breakdown requests.
  • Providing suggestions for equipment and plant change, and improvements.
  • Writing detailed Electrical Maintenance handover reports.
  • Installation of new electrical plant equipment.
  • Adhering to all JDR safety and performance standards, to ensure a safe working environment for individual as well as colleagues.

In addition to these duties employees are required to carry out such other duties as may reasonably be required.

To comply with all Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental standards and procedures established by the company’s policies and in accordance with the requirements of relevant legislation and any regulatory bodies at all times. To have read, understood and comply with the company Health and Safety manual, policies and procedures and to implement these, at all times, to ensure both your own safety and the safety of those who may be affected by your actions or omissions.

Job Requirements

Ideally educated to HNC level in Electrical Engineering, with 18th edition wiring regulations, you will be familiar with automated industrial electrical control systems, especially rotating machinery. Possess essential PLC skills to fault finding and diagnostics level and have the ability to implement new processes and run a Preventative Planned Maintenance system. You must be confident at working at heights as this is a regular requirement of the role.

JDR maintain work at a high standard and it is essential that work procedures are followed in order to ensure the quality of our products. The role of Maintenance Technician is a fundamental part of our manufacturing process so you will have excellent timekeeping and attendance as they are essential for the effective running of the department. A good work ethic and attitude as well as the drive to succeed are essential. As Maintenance Technician you will be required to work on a Continental Shift pattern.
