Electrical Project Engineer (Hardware)

Responsibilities:
- To ensure that the detailed engineering design (mechanical & electrical), manufacture of product, testing, delivery, installation, commissioning and documentation meets the customer's requirements and contract specification.
- To manage specific tasks and identified projects (including risks) which are allocated to you and to ensure the overall success of the Project within technical, programme and financial constraints.
- To communicate effectively, professionally and in a timely manner with internal personnel, external customers, consultants and subcontractors.
- To deputise for your Senior Project Engineer (where nominated) in his/her absence to ensure that other members of the team are working effectively and in a professional manner.
- To undertake the electrical design using the latest technology and preferred engineering techniques (e.g. compliance to BS EN 61439) to maximise efficiency.
- To attend and participate in regular Contract Reviews with the Senior Project Engineers working within your team to ensure that any issues are resolved with the customer.
- To ensure that variations and EOT's are issued to the customer as soon as they occur and that information and associated work are processed internally and externally. This includes preparation of cost estimates for submittal to clients to recover any changes/variations.
- Production of design output to meet targets set by your Line Manager.
- Adherence to Company QMS.
- Review periodically the specific project design and ensure internal feedback to relevant internal departments (i.e. Tendering, R & D etc.)
- Prepare technical specifications (and drawings) for sub-contract equipment and participate in supplier tender assessments/negotiations with the Engineering/Commercial Manager.
- Participate in Order Review meetings with clients and suppliers as required.
- To carry out other reasonable duties requested of you by your Line Manager/Engineering Manager/Director.
Experience and skills:
- An effective communicator.
- A good technical knowledge of Electrical Control Engineering (e.g. MCC/control panels, control systems, BS EN 61439) and the industrial applications.
- Familiarisation of the Company's products.
- Ability to develop good working relationships with different people from varying backgrounds.
- The ability to organise and prioritise workloads to achieve targets and minimise risks.
- Good all round technical/engineering capability.
- Commercial awareness and familiarity with standard Forms of Contract (e.g. G90, MF1, NEC etc.) through liaison with the Commercial Manager.
- Administration skills and computer literacy (e.g. Word, Excel, Vixen, Access, CAD etc.).
- ONC Electrical Engineering (as a minimum).
- 2 years electrical control engineering experience in a relevant discipline.
- 4 years manufacturing experience.
