Be part of the QinetiQ journey. Join us as an Electrical Technician at our Boscombe Down site, which is a Ministry of Defence RAF base. The airfield and its infrastructure is operated by QinetiQ on behalf of the Ministry of Defence.
Located on the outskirts of Salisbury and Amesbury in Wiltshire, the over one thousand acre site features two operational runways - including the longest military runway in the UK. There are extensive facilities to undertake a wide range of test, evaluation, demonstration and consultancy programmes. It is also the home of the world's first test pilot school (ETPS) that provides world-class training for flight test professionals of both civilian and military customers.
The role
As an Electrical Technician, you will have a role that is out of the ordinary. Day-to-day, you'll be based conducting reactive and pre-planned Electrical maintenance activities on a multitude of different equipment across the site. This could be the office buildings, the runways, hangars and much more.
- Deliver specialist technical maintenance support & services in relation to building plant / equipment
- Ensure robust application of health, safety & environmental procedures & processes
- Ensure maintenance and install standards and quality of work delivered are to the required level
- Oversee the conduct of contractors on site; monitoring the implementation & performance of tasks allocated
Development opportunities are available in exciting disciplines including courses of HV Appointed Person, Aeronautical Ground Lighting and Solar and Electrical Vehicle Charging. There is also opportunity to support and mentor new Apprentices.
This role is full time, Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 04:30pm.
Essential experience of the Electrical Technician
- Electrical engineering/technician maintenance experience is essential
- Good knowledge and level of competency in other areas of building services (BMS, electrical or mechanical services)
- An understanding of HV or AGL is desirable however not essential
Qualifications for the Electrical Technician
- Apprenticeship or NVQ Level three in an Electrical Discipline, this must include Inspection / Testing and Verification of Electrical Installations 2391-Certification
- Must have valid driving license and access to your own vehicle
