NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.
The shift pattern is Monday-Sunday 07.00-19.15/19.00-07.15. It is a 4 week rotating shift pattern.
Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Operational Estates is looking to recruit an Electrical Maintenance Technician to join the Estate’s shift teams to carry out reactive and planned preventative maintenance across the hospital campus.
The applicants must be a time served electrician, having completed a recognized electrical apprenticeship, hold an IET 18th Ed Wiring Regs qualification, qualified to SVQ/HNC level (or currently working towards this qualification), with a minimum of 5 years post apprenticeship experience, ideally including a degree of experience working within a healthcare environment. A current, valid ECS/SJIB card is desirable but not essential.
The successful applicant will be required to undertake and successfully complete the training required for appointment as a Competent Person (Low Voltage).
While the primary role of the post holder(s) will be to carry out electrical tasks, they will be part of a small multi-skilled technical team and will be responsible for the delivery of specialist technical services for a wide range of duties in relation to all disciplines of building services, including, but not limited to, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical systems. It is essential that the post holder accepts a wide range of cross trade duties so as to deliver a high standard of service. All cross discipline training will be provided as required.
The successful applicant will also have responsibilities to assist with training and education of apprentices and adult trainees, ensuring they gain the necessary training and experience to meet the needs of their training program.
This shift post is eligible for pay enhancements.
