Do you have a proven track record of carrying out electrical repairs and installations? Then join Southern Housing as an Electrician. The role will predominantly cover the County of Kent, with a base at our office in The Oasts, Newnham Court, Maidstone, but will form part of a wider directorate nationally covering Birmingham, London, Kent, Sussex and the Isle of Wight.
You'll be an essential member of the Direct Services department providing a comprehensive, efficient and responsive property repairs service for our residents. You ll work as part of a tight-knit team, supporting other operatives, operational support staff, managers and other colleagues around the organisation, effectively from issue to completion of works, providing final quality assurance. You'll successfully deliver works to a high quality, and as detailed within the order, to maximise first time fix criteria, appointment objectives, enhancing resident satisfaction, with efficient working practices and value for money in mind.
You will need to possess a full UK driving licence. Please note that there will be some requirement to work a scheduled out of hours service.
What you ll have
- A proven track record of working as an Electrician where customer satisfaction, productivity and value for money are all at the heart of service delivery (ideally at least 2 years experience required).
- Excellent knowledge and experience in the requirements of the Health and Safety Act, and any other relevant legislation and/or regulatory requirements
- Competent in the use of mobile technology in keeping detailed and auditable records of works completed and materials used
- A positive approach toward collaborative one-team working is essential with customer satisfaction as a priority
- Experience of working within a Social Housing or similar customer focused environment
- A valid UK driving licence and the ability to travel between sites and offices across Kent and on occasion into other regions nationally.
Possession of the following trade qualifications is essential:
- City & Guilds 18th Edition Certificate. Amendment 3: BS7671
- City & Guilds 2391 Testing & Inspection
- Qualified to Part 1 & 2 City & Guilds for electrical installation.
Capabilities and experience in a range of repairs and maintenance work inc. day-to-day repairs (internal and external), fencing, plumbing, decorating, carpentry, glazing, roofig, groundworks, bricklaying and labouring would also be beneficial.
The role is predominantly site based, but with our Hub at The Oasts in Maidstone operating as a base.
We envisage the successful applicant working 40 hours, 08 00, Monday through Friday, with out of hours being scheduled between operatives accordingly.
As this role requires you to travel across Kent and on occasion into other regions you will be supplied with a Southern Housing fleet vehicle. Pool tools and equipment, plus uniform and PPE will also be provided.
