Contract: Permanent, full time

As an Electro/Mechanical Technician you will support the Advanced Supply Chain Institute (ASCI) to deliver digital, automation and innovation projects internally within the ASCI and the wider Unipart Logistics (UL), sites. You’ll be involved in providing technical support to demonstration set up, customer challenges and student projects that require the knowledge and skills around hardware and software aspect.

As part of your key responsibilities you’ll:

  • Provide technical assistance to the ASCI, it’s customers and Unipart Logistics with knowledge, and product/project delivery
  • Proactively work to deliver the strategic plan for the ASCI in line with business needs
  • Support the Automation, Digital & Innovation function to enable delivery of their objectives
  • Ensure all stakeholders, internal and external are engaged and working as a team to deliver projects aligned to Unipart Logistics business objectives
  • Solve problems at your level, overcoming barriers and roadblocks whilst progressing agreed projects
  • Continually develop your own knowledge of emerging technology, particularly I4.0 technologies and the next megatrends while aligning them to solutions that could benefit Unipart Logistics and its customers
  • Develop key relationships that drive value across internal functions – IT, Procurement, Operations as key stakeholders
  • Focus on standardisation, developing solutions and identifying technology that could be scalable
  • Deliver and support demonstrations and tours to internal and external visitors

About You:

  • Understanding of and adherence to health and safety guidelines
  • Knowledge of electrical systems, mechanical systems, and automation technologies.
  • Experience in project management using Agile methodology (DevOps, Git version control).
  • Experience in working with and building PCB designs (Printed Circuit Board).
  • Knowledge in Computer-Aided Design applications such as Solid work, Sketch up.
  • Ability to use Engineering programming languages such as frameworks C, C++ Java, or Python and client-server applications with Java, JavaScript, SQL Servers.
  • Familiarity with Arduino, ESP32 and Raspberry Pi, with the ability to program as required.
  • Understanding of sensor builds including the use of raspberry Pi controllers, experience with using low bandwidth connectivity (Blues wireless) also advantageous.
  • Experience in working with Google suite in particular “no code” applications creating google sites.
  • Understanding of Android OS, Windows OS, and ability to load products onto respective operating systems, also advantage but not necessity Linux OS experience.
  • Understanding of both cloud and hard server storage creating API links to host products across both.
  • Use of BI dashboards and databases to host and display data effectively
