Role: Graduate Electronics Design Engineer
Location: Shepton Mallet, Somerset
Salary: £25,000 - £30,000

Officer Hours:
Start between 7:30am-9am, Monday to Friday, Finish between 4.00pm-6.00pm Monday to Thursday, 2.00pm Friday Hybrid working (currently 3x days + in the office per week)
Daily Duties
• Working alongside a team of Electronic Design Engineers.
• Monitoring projects through the lifecycle design process.
• Supporting the Production Department with new product release, production and supply issues.
• Supporting legacy products through Engineering Change Notes.
• Supporting System Sales generating variations of current designs.
• Design and development of subsea and shipboard electronic systems primarily relating to the marine-seismic industry.
• Development of new products from concept through to production & from component to system-level
• Ability to liaise with other teams –
Software/Firmware/Mechanical/Production/Field Service.
• Supporting the Production Department with new product release, production and supply issues.
• Generation of design, verification and test documentation in line with company processes.
Initial Project:
- Support for new system development.
- Design and development of ancillary electronic products and systems for integration of subsea cables.
- Requirement specifications, schematic capture, creation of Bill of Materials, Engineering Change Notes, assembly instructions, component requests, department procedures, test specifications and analysis calculations.
Key Skills:
- Knowledge of and experience in specifying and developing electronic products in line with specification requirements.
- Experience with RS485, SPI, I2C, I2S etc.
- Working knowledge of Altium and/or Candence tools for schematic Capture, BOM generation.
- Ability to work to a project schedule and provide regular progress updates to the Team Lead/Project Manager.
Desirable Skills:
• Small-signal, low-noise analogue design / simulation, sensor interfacing, DACs, ADCs
• Digital design including CPLD/FPGA design and verification, use of processors/micro-controllers, embedded computers.
• Working knowledge of C, Verilog / VHDL, Python.
• Familiarity with Linux Operating systems
• Source-code control systems: SVN, Git, Azure DevOps
• PCB Layout using Altium and/or Candence tools, producing manufacturing documentation / liaising with PCB fabrication and assembly houses.
• Knowledge of power supply design
• Experience with fibre-optics
• Experience of designing for the marine or similar harsh environment / knowledge of the seismic industry.
