Role: Senior Embedded Electronic Engineer
Located: Tadworth, Surrey (4x days a week onsite)

Main purpose:
Working within the existing team you will be involved with developing the hardware and software of existing and new products; battery powered remote telemetry units using ARM processors and wireless technology (e.g. GPRS/3G, ISM). The role will cover all areas of a product’s lifecycle, electronic prototyping, design development, CAD/CAM schematic entry and layout, and technical support with contract manufacturers.
Principal accountabilities
- Responsible for product hardware through all phases of the product life cycle.
- Participate in, or when required, lead product development activities for designated products or customers.
- Ensure that all product development specifications conform to company design authority, quality and customer requirements.
- Manage the production of complete products
- Ensure that products so designed are properly tested to ensure conformance with all company and customer requirements.
- Ensure that product and design documentation is maintained.
- Provide inputs in to the sales process as required by the Engineering Director, including attending and participating in presentations to customers or other third parties.
- Provide technical support to customers using online ticketing system.
Education/Experience:
- Degree level qualification in Electronic Engineering or related course.
- General education including A Level passes or equivalent
- At least two years post qualification experience in an electronic engineering or embedded programming environment.
- Hands-on experience in the design of microprocessor-based electronics hardware and embedded software.
- CAD/CAM tools: schematic design, PCB layout, and artwork software e.g. Altium Designer, OrCAD, KiCad, Eagle, Gerber Viewers.
- Familiarity with ARM based microprocessors and microcontrollers
- Peripheral electronics e.g. UART, SPI, ADC, Interrupts, GPIO, SRAM, Flash
- Experience of Eclipse based IDE’s and use of JTAG debugging tools
- Experienced user of IT equipment and Microsoft Office Software suite
- Full UK Driving License
Additional Knowledge/Experience:
- Low-power design for digital electronics, SMPS and LDO
- Mobile communications: GPRS/3G/4G, LPWAN/LoRa/NB-IoT
- RF and EMI/EMC design practices, CE Standards and Conformance
- Design for hazardous environments: ATEX/Explosive Environments, IP ratings
- Software design: RTOS (MQX), C++, Assembler, C#, ARM Cortex processors, Linux, Jira, SVN
- Industrial Protocols: IEC61131-3, 4-20mA, Modbus, PROFINET, M-Bus, SDI-12, WITS, DNP3
