Weatherford have opportunities for a number of Electronic Test Engineers to join our Production Test Department during this period of growth. Your role will be to bench test and repair fully assembled electronic PCB’s, subassemblies and Compact tools in line with approved engineering drawings and specifications, whilst accurately and systematically recording all data gathered throughout the testing process used for monitoring and quality purposes. These roles are Monday-Friday; 36.25 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reporting to the Test Supervisor, your role will be to bench test and repair fully assembled electronic PCB’s, subassemblies and Compact tools in line with approved engineering drawings and specifications, whilst accurately and systematically recording all data gathered throughout the testing process used for monitoring and quality purposes.
  • Accurate and systematic recording of all test data used for referral purposes, obtained from all PCB and tool tests. To perform environmental stress screening (ESS) to all assembled downhole PCB sub-assemblies in accordance with the specification clearly defined in the environmental test procedure for each sub assembly, ensuring the product is fit for purpose prior to sign off.
  • Test and repair all products as prioritised by the Test Supervisor, with the main objective of meeting all requirements of the monthly production schedule, thereby ensuring that all tested product is moved to the next process according to the routing on the Works Order.
  • At each stage of testing, work with inspection, mechanical assembly and engineers to ensure that precision aspects are maintained.
  • Assist engineering and production to achieve continuous quality, reliability, and cost improvements in all aspects of Electronic Testing, through dialogue and implementation by submitting either Non-Conformity and Corrective Action Requests or Opportunity for Improvements, once such improvements and or amendments have been approved by the Test Supervisor.
  • At the discretion of the Test supervisor to be able to multitask between both Test and Wiring departments assisting in maintaining workflow continuity during peaks and troughs in work output.
  • To carry out any other duties as reasonably required by the Test Supervisor


Qualifications


Required

  • Minimum HNC in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of continuous experience in substantial Electronic Test and repair of precision equipment down to component level, using traditional testing methods (not ATE).
  • Analogue and digital experience.
  • Must be capable of working from circuit diagrams and schematics.
  • Familiarity with all aspects of small electronic equipment manufacture, including printed circuit board assembly (preferably gained in the field of instrumentation and measurement).
  • Proficient in the use of traditional Electronic Test instrumentation eg; oscilloscope, digital multi-meter, frequency counter.
  • Electronic hand soldering iron and desoldering skills essential.
  • Electrical stress screening experience (environmental testing).
  • A team player with attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.

Preferred

  • 2 to 3 years SMT rework experience.
  • PCB experience.

Heavy lifting of 10KG+ will be required in this role.
