ELECTRONICS DESIGN ENGINEER
BASED LIVINGSTON SALARY EXCELLENT PLUS BENS (HYBRID WORKNG)

Based in Livingston, ESS Recruit s client comprises of a group of European companies engaged in the design, development, manufacture and distribution of analytical systems, life science equipment and laboratory instruments with operations dating back a number of years. They design, develop, supply and support Gas Chromatography (GC) and Mass Spectrometry (MS) product lines for a range of markets including forensics, food quality, environmental, pharma and life sciences. The company maintains a global infrastructure to support sales around the world.
Reporting to the Head of R&D, the Electronics Design Engineer or Senior Electronics Design Engineer (either level of application can be considered) will work within a multi-disciplinary team, taking ownership of electronic design decisions for target products, creating the necessary documentation to enable the successful transition of designs from concept to production and supporting production challenges for existing product lines.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Development of electronics for MS and GC instrumentation.
  • Actively participate in project definition, planning, and technical risk analysis.
  • Solve complex engineering problems and provide innovative, cost-effective solutions.
  • Collaborate with project engineers and scientists.
  • Create detailed engineering design packages, including schematics and PCB layout manufacturing files.
  • Conduct initial and system-level testing of instrumentation in collaboration with project engineers and scientists.
  • Develop test procedures and fixtures for implementation at manufacturing sites.
If you have experience in any of the following it would be useful although not essential; practical knowledge of electronic test equipment (such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analysers, AC/DC power sources, power meters, etc), experience with PCB layout (or managing contractor layout engineers). knowledge of DFM/DFT, experience with mixed signal, multi-layer PCB designs, familiarity with Altium or equivalent, experience with designing complex multi-board system and knowledge/Experience of RF Design.
Ideally you will have a degree or higher in Electrical / Electronic Engineering or Equivalent with experience in developing and delivering electronic solutions through the entire product development cycle and experience in an R&D environment. Although not essential experience in any of the following would also be useful; high stability power supply units, tuned RF generator expertise, simulation tools for design calculations and component tolerance analyses, digital electronics, and control system development experience and lastly supervision and mentoring experience with junior team members if you are a Senior level engineer.
