Background

This is primarily an R&D role and would suite an engineer with relevant experience or someone that has just finished a second degree or PhD (a scientist)

Duties

• Working on various projects as part of a team
  Undertaking the design and testing of products and where necessary producing reports
• Liaising with other disciplines and departments (mechanical, software, manufacturing etc) to ensure the products meet all necessary milestones and adheres to industry standards.
• You will be involved in the design of amplifiers, or amplification of lasers/optics for various projects and industries, ideally high-powered amplifiers.
• Utilising various design and testing tools and equipment to ensure the designs can be verified and ultimately manufactured.

Person

• You must possess some experience of amplifier design whether in industry or academia.
• Qualifications should be degree level with the aforementioned design skills, or it could be research-based experience from an MSc or PhD
• Undertaking the novel design of fibre optic amplifiers, testing these devices and resolving issues that will arise from new design, then applying the testing results to the design for further evaluation.
• You should possess relevant experience to enable the design, ideally exposure to fibre optics /lasers or similar.
