Form of work Doctors Direct have an exciting opportunity for a Junior/SHO/ST1-2 to work with us at East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust in Emergency Medicine .
We are looking for a doctor dedicated to, and passionate about, improving health and wellbeing within the East Kent community.
This Role is an ongoing fulltime placement opportunity within the innovative and fast paced integrated emergency care to a wide range of patients from East Kent. It is our inspiration to develop into an academic and research unit in Emergency Medicine for Kent. The Emergency Departments, one at the William Harvey Hospital (WHH), Ashford and the other at the Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Hospital (QEQMH), Margate, each offer a full 24 hour emergency service. The Emergency Departments are supported by co-located Urgent Treatment Centres, a 24 hour UTC at the Kent and Canterbury Hospital with a further 7 community UTCs in the region. In total approximately 220,000 patients are seen annually across the Emergency Departments
Your key responsibilities will be to:
The role will include the initial assessment, investigation and management of patients attending the ED. You will be assigned to work in different areas of the department including Resus, Majors, Paediatrics and the ED Observation bay.
You will also be responsible for arranging admissions and preparation of electronic discharge summaries as appropriate. Ensure that records of patients in your care are accurate, up to date and legible and signed.
Supervision will be provided at all times by either Consultants or Specialty Doctors in Emergency Medicine.
It is expected that you will attend the weekly departmental teaching sessions, as the rota allows and participate in the audit, governance and research activities of the department. We encourage all of our doctors to develop their portfolio whilst in our department and our former doctors have a high success rate in gaining formal training posts in Emergency Medicine.
The appointee will be expected to cover for absence of colleagues (including on call cover) at short notice, eg sickness.

Payment method: PAYE we do NOT facilitate payment through LTD/umbrella companies
