River Church Ipswich is a HTB Network church plant in the town centre of Ipswich, which launched in September 2021 and has already grown quickly into a thriving resource church, with a congregation of more than 200, and three Sunday services.

The Spear Assistant Coach will work as part of the River Church staff team, alongside the Centre Manager to deliver the Spear Programme, equipping and empowering 16-24 year olds to overcome barriers to Employment and turn their lives around by moving into sustainable work or further education.

The important stuff 

Salary: £24,375 pro-rata

Hours: Part time* (24 hours per week) 9.00am – 5.00pm, Tuesday – Thursday

Location: River Church Ipswich, IP4 1BZ

Key Responsibilities

Coaching

• Work closely with the Centre Manager to prepare and coach Spear Foundation group sessions and 1-1s, ensuring that young people are engaged, retained and work-ready by the end of this initial phase of the programme
• Prepare and deliver coaching sessions on a weekly basis and find creative ways of developing ongoing relationships with Spear Trainees. This includes running application workshops with past Trainees as well as maintaining records and reporting on statistics.

Relationship Management

• Build and manage relationships with a variety of stakeholders, including referrers, local businesses, organisations and communicate directly with young people, to encourage referrals to the Spear Programme
• You will support with job fairs, mock interview days and welcoming external visitors to the centre

Church Community

• Spear Coaches are directly employed by the partner church at which their Centre is based, meaning you are part of a vibrant church staff team and submerged in an exciting faith community
