SalaryAt Surrey County Council, an exciting opportunity has arisen within our People & Change function for an HR Employment Policy and Engagement Consultant. This is a temporary full-time role, up to 30 November 2024, based at Woodhatch Place, Reigate.
However, this role is open to remote working meaning the successful post holder will not be required in the office 5 days a week. In support of our people and our greener futures strategies, we'd welcome a conversation with the successful candidate on what remote working may look like.
The HR Policy & Engagement Consultant will use their significant knowledge, expertise, experience, and sound judgement to deliver a range of employment policies, working closely with Lead HR Employment Practice & Engagement Consultant, HR&OD business partners, Senior HR colleagues, operational managers, and the trade unions to:
- Review and develop the councils' HR policies to ensure that they are up to date and customer focused.
- Coordinate and participate in consultation and negotiation with trade unions as appropriate to foster and develop constructive and productive relations.
- Review and report on the council's trade union facilities arrangements.
The successful candidate will need to demonstrate:
- Experience of working within an HR&OD environment with highly developed HR skills
- An ability to deliver high quality expert advice to support senior HR colleagues on HR policy matters.
- Expert knowledge to maintain and promote policy, employment law and engagement best practice.
- CIPD qualified to post graduate diploma level, or able to evidence equivalent knowledge and understanding of HR & OD disciplines.
