Job description

Location: Kings Meadow Campus An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Tax team at the University of Nottingham as Employment Taxes Manager. The Tax team is responsible for ensuring the university's compliance with tax legislation both in the UK and overseas, with the main focus being on VAT and sales taxes, Employment Taxes and import/export reports. The team has a wide range of customers, both within the Finance team and in the wider university community.  Reporting into the VAT Manager, this role will be responsible for the university's compliance with UK employment tax law and will be the Subject Matter Expert for Employment Tax across the entire university, supported by the Tax Assistants. In this role, you will oversee all employment tax reporting and will work closely with colleagues across the university to develop and maintain policies and procedures which ensure compliance. You will answer ad-hoc employment tax queries, provide advice and work on special projects. You will also develop and maintain employment tax knowledge within the tax team and the wider university. To apply for the role you should have significant relevant experience working within UK employment tax, together with evidence of an ongoing commitment to professional development. An in depth  understanding of UK employment tax legislation is essential, with experience in the HE sector desirable, however, training will be provided for sector specific tax issues. As customer service is a key part of this role, you will have excellent communication skills. This is a full time role (36.25 hours per week); however applications are also welcome from candidates wishing to work part-time (minimum 25 hours per week). Please specify in your application if you wish to work part time and the number of preferred hours. Job share arrangements may be considered. The position is offered on a fixed term contract until 30th September 2024. The role will come with 30 days annual leave, public holidays and university closure days (pro rata for part time) and can offer on site or hybrid working across all university campuses. Requests for secondment from internal candidates may be considered on the basis that prior agreement has been sought from both your current line manager and the manager of your substantive post, if you are already undertaking a secondment role. Please see role profile for further details. Informal enquiries may be addressed to Christina Campbell at Christina.Campbell1@nottingham.ac.uk. Please note that applications sent directly to this email address will not be accepted. Our university is a supportive, inclusive, caring and positive community.
