Job description

The Employment Tax Senior Manager will be responsible for leading and developing a diverse tax team. The role is primarily based in Birmingham and will involve advising on a wide range of Employment Tax matters.

Description

You will possess a sound understanding of key Employment Tax matters, such as conducting compliance checks for clients in areas like PAYE/NIC through health checks and generating reports. Additionally, you will assist clients in managing ongoing HMRC Employer Compliance reviews/enquiries, aiding in disclosures to HMRC, and mitigating penalties arising from such reviews.

The role will extend to handling employment status and off-payroll working assessments ("IR35") and addressing client queries in this regard. The department also provide technical support and guidance on Annual Compliance matters, including P11D and PSA reporting.

Offering advice on tax implications and relevant exemptions, you will guide clients on benefits such as company cars/vans, private fuel, etc. Moreover, you will have involvement in other areas collaborating with broader tax due diligence teams by supporting Employment Tax aspects during Due Diligence processes. This entails participating in calls, reviewing responses/documents, identifying tax risks, quantifying them when necessary, and preparing comprehensive reports.

Other areas of focus encompass termination payments, salary sacrifice arrangements, including OpRA, and addressing issues related to the Construction Industry Scheme through reviews and client consultations.

Profile

A successful Employment Tax Assistant Manager should have:

  • Working towards ACA, ATT/CTA is desired, although not essential. Qualified by experience will also be considered.
  • Proven track record in managing Employment Tax compliance and advisory assignments.
  • Strong knowledge of tax legislation and compliance.
  • Excellent client relationship management skills.
  • Ability to lead and mentor a team.
  • Exceptional communication and networking skills.
