  • Pernod Ricard UK, which markets, sells and distributes our products in the UK market
  • Pernod Ricard Global Travel Retail, the global and EMEA home of the group’s duty free, air travel and cruises business.
  • The Absolut Group, the brand owner of our global white spirits portfolio, whose Gin brand unit and Business Acceleration team sit in London.
We are an organisation of 2,000 employees in the UK, headquartered in London, in a brand-new office designed with sustainability, ‘conviviality’ and collaboration in mind. We also have offices in Scotland and various distilleries and production sites across the UK from Plymouth to London to Speyside.
Your new team
This position sits in our Chivas Brothers business. At Chivas Brothers, our 1,600-strong team across 27 sites is committed to upholding the heritage of Scotch and ensuring its sustainable future, as well as opening it up to new audiences across the globe.
The scope of Operations stretches from Procurement through conversion (distillation and maturation) and manufacturing (or bottling) to all the downstream Supply Chain activities until the final product is delivered. In addition, Operations play a very active role in Innovation, Talent Development and Operational Risk Management.
Our Production function encompasses everything from distillation, through to Maturation, Cask Drain & Fill and Blending.
The Production Engineering team that you will join implements capital engineering projects, many of which improve energy efficiency, and offers expert advice across the business in each of the key engineering disciplines including an active role finding in energy efficiency improvements.
Your unique contribution
The Energy Manager will be responsible for improving the energy and utilities efficiency standard of Chivas Brothers Ltd and drive continuous improvement and best practice in energy consumption and cost strategy.
You will have four main areas of responsibility:
Utilities & Infrastructure – to actively risk manage the procurement of commodity traded utilities, taking advantage of favourable market conditions and to manage external infrastructure improvements and upgrades with relevant external providers and business partners. You will be responsible for the negotiation of utilities contracts (in collaboration with sourcing and legal) up to £25Mof significant value and for setting the utility budgets for all areas of the business on an annual basis. You will also manage costs and compliance associated with water and trade effluent. Data & Reporting – to establish robust management information showing consumption and trends, so that these can be monitored and reported to senior management as well as maintaining regulatory data relating to energy, utilities and carbon. You will also manage the data, billing and consumption requirements of all company locations. Legal & Compliance – to ensure the company’s legal responsibilities are concluded and have full rights and responsibilities to operate the Carbon accounts and purchase UKA allowances to achieve compliance. You will complete energy reduction audits and devise and run a site surveying programme to monitor compliance with best practice and laid down policy. You will also manage climate change levy tax relief documentation with HMRC and suppliers and develop the company energy management policy and strategy documentation. Business Improvements – to identify areas of major waste or in need of in-depth study and identify specific opportunities for consumption reduction along with proposed solutions. You will also develop and deliver education and awareness training throughout the entire workforce to cover best practice, optimise process methods and reduce consumption.
Who you’ll be working with
Internally, you will collaborate with teams across the business including Bulk Operations, Malt Distillation, Manufacturing, Health & Safety, Sustainability & Reliability, Environmental, Finance, HR and Legal, amongst other teams across the Pernod Ricard group.
Externally, you will collaborate with contractors, consultants, vendors and suppliers to ensure delivery of services to the highest quality.
Your blend of talent
This position could be right for you if you:
