Job description

NLC 7 - (£27,961 - £30,518) Pro Rata

We are looking for an Engagement Officer join our team. Your base will be Summerlee Museum of Scottish Industrial Life, Coatbridge but you will work with communities across North Lanarkshire on an exciting project to decolonise the museum collections.

You will be responsible for supervising the work of the Community Curators, working with people with lived experiences to explore the legacies of Atlantic slavery and empire to deliver a series of interpretive outputs. You will also work alongside museum curators to develop the museum collection and create resources which celebrates North Lanarkshire’s diverse communities.

Working to improve equality and diversity are important in this role and you will also play a part in re-shaping North Lanarkshire Council Museums & Collections to embed anti-racist practice in our work.

To be successful in the post, you will have a proven record of working with a range of community groups, including diverse communities and experience of working in a collaborative environment. You should enjoy working with people, have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, be self-motivated and have a flexible approach to work practices.

Post is temporary for twelve months.

Work Pattern:

21 Hours Per Week

Hours per week: Over 3 days Monday to Friday to be agreed

End of Temp Contract: Based on start date of August 1st 2024
