Purpose of the Post.


  • Ensure that the people of Gwynedd are at the heart of everything we do.
  • Supporting officers across the Council to carry out public engagement exercises.
  • Supporting the Council's Communications and Engagement Manager with the work of creating, implementing and managing detailed engagement plans for the Council’s strategic projects.
  • Supporting the Communications and Engagement Manager to ensure quality control over the Council’s engagement procedures.
  • Assisting officers within the Communication and Engagement Unit with the work of developing and implementing the Council's communications plans.


Responsibility for functions

Main Duties
.


  • Advising and supporting officers across the Council’s services on the work of co-ordinating and implementing effective engagement plans to ensure that local people can appropriately influence the Councils’ services, policies and procedures.
  • Developing Corporate Engagement Guidelines and offering specialist advice to officers on engagement and research methodology (designing and distributing questionnaires, sample size etc.).
  • Co-ordinating Cyngor Gwynedd’s Engagement Group and maintaining a central register of the Council Services’ engagement exercises.
  • Researching best practices in public engagement and promoting pioneering ways of engaging.
  • Developing arrangements to ensure that certain groups within the community, e.g. young people, people with disabilities and older people, are given suitable opportunities to have their say and contribute to the work of planning local services.
  • Arranging public engagement exercises (surveys, drop-in sessions, public meetings, focus groups etc.) and Gwynedd Citizens’ Panel engagement exercises for strategic / corporate projects.
  • Using LimeSurvey software to create bilingual electronic questionnaires.
  • Ensuring that the Citizens’ Panel members' database is up to date, recruiting new members and amending the Panel members’ details as required.
  • Sharing information about consultations and results with the Citizens’ Panel.
  • Updating and developing the engagement information on Cyngor Gwynedd’s website.
  • Working with the Research and Information Service when preparing consultations and presenting results.
  • Working with other officers within the Communications and Engagement Service to prepare press releases, posters, leaflets, social media messages, simple video clips and short articles to promote public engagement exercises.
  • Supporting the Communications and Engagement Service with other public relations activities and monitoring and acting upon requests from services to update and revise information on the Council’s corporate website.
  • Proofreading and translating documents and publications to ensure they have been written in correct and clear Welsh and English.
  • Responsibility for self-development.
  • Ensure compliance with Health and Safety rules in the workplace in accordance with the responsibilities noted in the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and the Council’s Health and Safety Policy.
  • Operate within the Council’s policies in relation to equal opportunities and equality.
  • Responsible for managing information in accordance with the Council’s information management guidelines. Ensure that personal information is treated in accordance with Data Protection legislation.
  • Commitment to reducing the Council’s carbon emissions in accordance with the Carbon Management Plan, and to encourage others to act positively towards reducing the Council’s Carbon Footprint.
  • Undertake any other reasonable duty which corresponds to the salary level and responsibility level of the job.
  • Responsibility to report any worry or suspicion that a child or vulnerable adult is being abused
