Title
Engineering Apprentice
Reports To
The Engineering Apprentice will report to the Senior Engineer and Chartered Engineer.
Job Overview
As an Engineering Apprentice, the company will support your educational development within your journey
in Civil Engineering. Dependent upon which leave of education you start from the company will support you
through day release on the BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Construction and the Built Environment or HNC in
Civil Engineering. We will also support your professional development; you will join the Institution of Civil
Engineers (ICE) as a student member and your studies, along with the wealth of experience that we offer you
will culminate in you becoming a technician member of the ICE.
Upon completion of the apprenticeship and subject to your overall performance, there may be an opportunity
for you to go onto further study to enable you to be qualified to degree level and achieve Incorporated/Chartered
Engineer status in the future.
Responsibilities and Duties
The main responsibilities and duties of this role are listed as follows:
- Production of CAD drawings.
- Preparation of simple calculations.
- Supporting the administration of projects.
- Ensuring outputs meet the required standards.
- Meeting agreed deadlines.
- Maintaining drawing register.
- Working as a member of a team.
- Contributing to providing solutions to problems.
- Working both in an office environment and on site.
Qualifications
Listed below are the qualifications and experience considered desirable to undertake the role. Proven
experience and professional recognitions may be prioritized over academic qualifications:

A minimum of five GCSEs grade C or above which must include English, Maths, Science, and a technology
related subject. Maths must be achieved at a Grade B or above. Good communications, numeracy and IT skills
are all important, as is the ability to work as part of a team while also having plenty of your own initiative.
Strong problem solving, attention to detail and a desire to come up with practical solutions will also stand you
in good stead.
