Your apprenticeship will encompass a wide array of metrological techniques and practices, distinct yet interconnected with mechanical engineering principles:

• Metrological Techniques and Tools: Immerse yourself in the core of metrology, learning about the various tools and techniques for precise measurement. Understand how to apply these tools in both traditional and modern settings, ensuring accuracy and reliability in measurements.
• Environmental Conditions and Metrology: Understand how environmental conditions affect measurements. Learn about the factors that can influence measurement accuracy, such as temperature and humidity, and how to mitigate these effects in practice.
• Calibration and Quality Assurance: Discover the importance of calibration in maintaining the accuracy of measurement instruments. Learn how to perform calibration procedures and understand their role in quality assurance processes, ensuring instruments meet the required standards and regulations.

During your apprenticeship you will attend The National Physical Laboratory (NPL) which is a world-leading centre of excellence 6-week blocks over the 3 year apprenticeship. Worry not though-full accommodation, travel reimbursement, and meal allowance will be provided when you find yourself away from home.
