Engineering Capability Lead

Westlakes Recruit are currently recruiting for an Engineering Capability Lead with a background in Nuclear or other highly regulated sector on a staff basis, to be working hybrid but willing to attend sites/offices in either Manchester, Warrington or Derby.
Role Purpose
An overarching strategic objective of the SMR programme is to leverage existing industrial capability, key to this will be the identification and control of standards within the business.
The "Engineering Capability Lead - Standards" is responsible for co-ordinating the consistent use of appropriate standards within the business and the configuration and control of bespoke standards being authored. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to heavily influence our standards suite and strategic direction for the use and traceability of standards within the business.
Critically, this requires an individual with strong interpersonal skills, necessary to elicit, understand, prioritise and deliver complex demands, and the ability to apply strategic thinking about our integrated standards approach, and how effective use of standards can help us deliver a repeatable and safe plant design.
Key Results and Achievements

• Working closely with across the Engineering team and wider business to understand the standards landscape and ensuring a cohesive approach to standards selection.
• Developing and maintaining processes for the selection and control of International Standards used within Rolls-Royce SMR.
• Controlling the authoring of bespoke standards and ensuring they are fit for purpose and effective.
• Managing the provision of International and Bespoke standards to our team of around 400 engineers.
• The opportunity to get involved in industry wide initiatives to harmonise and identify best practice in the deployment of standards.
• Stay updated with the latest developments in Standards Engineering and maintain a watching brief on new standards publication.
