Engineering Estimator

Castle View Group are looking for an Engineering Estimator to work in a fabrication company based in Newcastle Upon Tyne.

Our client provides a complete service in supply of fabrication to the offshore, sub sea, power generation, wind farm and general engineering.

Main Responsibilities:

Responsibility for preparation of reliable time, cost and labour estimates for products, projects or services by performing the following duties:

• Analyse and interpret technical specifications, reference drawings, technical documents and regulatory body regulations.
• Review data to determine labour, material and subcontract requirements and prepare itemised estimates.
• Compute cost factors and prepare estimates used for management purposes such as planning, organising and scheduling work, preparing bids, selecting vendors or subcontractors and determining cost effectiveness.
• Prepare quotations and proposals.
• Consult with clients, vendors or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
• Request quotations and analyse subcontractor quotes in consultation with purchasing to determine best alternative.

Qualifications and Skills Required:

• Experience in shipbuilding, offshore fabrication or marine engineering, whereby experience as an estimator is an advantage.
• Ability to write reports, technical proposals and other correspondence.
• Excellent computer skills and experience in working with Microsoft Office applications such as excel, word, access and projects.
• Ability to maintain relationships at all levels of the company, clients and suppliers.
• Commercial awareness, a positive attitude and good communication skills.
• Ability to perform the duties required, both independently and as a team.
• The capacity and motivation to travel and to work flexible hours.

Salary is negotiable depending on experience.
