Nature and Scope
Major Job Functions and Tasks:
- Ensure (in conjunction with the Senior Plant Manager and site SHE Manager) that all engineering work is designed, procured and delivered in a safe, managed and lawful manner, compliant with all relevant legislation.
- Fully support and comply with company HSE and Quality Policies. Develop and implement a maintenance strategy that meets the needs of the plant and the business through measurement and analysis of the performance of the facility in conjunction with manufacturers recommendations.
- Ensuring the operational delivery of the engineering budget and reporting against established KPI’s.
- Ensure the delivery of continuous improvement through leadership within engineering maintenance and process engineering.
- Identifying, providing and facilitating solutions to engineering and technical problems. Managing the development of technical strategies, documents, contracts, processes and specifications to ensure quality, consistency and efficiency in all technical engineering activities.
- Managing the periodic shutdown of plant equipment liaising and controlling contractors and sub-contractors and procurement of spares and materials.
- Ensuring equipment is delivered on time and to budget, and ensuring remedial strategies are developed when shortfalls are identified Developing and managing the technical practice and standards of the Company.
- Ensuring the retention and adherence to accredited standards (ISO 9001) Ensuring compliance with engineering legislation (e.g. LOLER, Legionella, Pressure Vessels, Fixed Installation Testing, PAT, Closed Loop Cooling Systems, EA Permits)
- Ensuring that maintenance and production standards are observed and applied.
- Developing technical capability within the team.
- Identifying and assessing the value and capability of new or additional technologies.
- Taking responsibilities for managing R&M budget and capital projects as and when required.
- Managing the continuous improvement engineer and responsible for tracking and ideation for site cost saving targets.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Needed
- Bachelor's degree (B.S.) or equivalent in an engineering or technical discipline, with a minimum of three to five years industrial experience. Chartered Engineer Preferred.
- Formal TPM, Six Sigma, WCM, TPS or Lean training related to world class maintenance processes is a necessity with at least 5 years of experience of a successful implementation and management of an engineering function.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from production and maintenance employees. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
