Role Purpose:

To manage the Engineering team of the Allicio Factory, driving planned preventative maintenance and operational engineering to optimise plant availability and reliability that ensures customer expectations are met in line with all relevant quality, service, legal and regulatory standards and obligations.

 

Key Areas of Responsibility:

·        Contribute to the operational and technical strategy of the factory to achieve world class standard of production in line with Allicio's collective aims and goals.

·        Foster a culture of operational excellence, quality and safety within the factory, effectively communicating and educating all team members to ensure a high standard of production at all times.

·        Drive the development of improvements in the effectiveness of Operations & Engineering through contribution to cross-functional working, performance improvement initiatives and the development of operational process. 

·        Champion team awareness of the functional strategy, vision, objectives, goals, measures and actions/initiatives.

·        Champion business projects and change initiatives to inspire action and drive continuous improvement, cost reduction and efficiency enhancements within Engineering.

·        Lead the Engineering function, optimising allocation of resources to ensure that targets and objectives are met within the agreed budget.

·        Set, manage and report against Engineering KPIs, operating within the site budget, executing actions required to address any performance issues and / or to capitalize on opportunities (project delivery, downtime analysis, preventative maintenance schedule, CI).

·        Champion the application of continuous improvement tools and techniques, including root cause analysis, and problem solving to resolve quality and production issues, and continually improve the efficiency and effectiveness of production.

·        Provide subject matter experts to support the development of and delivery of training to all production staff in the safe and effective operation of any new equipment on site.

·        Contribute to and implement business continuity plans, responding to site incidents and implementing learning based on events in order to improve responses and minimise impact in the future.

·        Lead the development of relevant policies and procedures and Health & Safety documentation to ensure that all activity complies with relevant legislation.

·        Set the planned maintenance and operational engineering schedules to optimise plant availability, and reliability that ensures site safety standards of equipment, customer expectations are met in line with all relevant quality, service, legal and regulatory standards and obligations.

·        Negotiate, set and monitor the spare parts budget and critical parts list ensuring that there is adequate provision for purchasing the spare parts and critical parts for continuity / prevention of stoppages.

·        Implement and monitor the application of health and safety and other relevant policies, procedures, and practices, overseeing remedial action where necessary to ensure safe working practices, meeting the agreed standards.

·        Drive a safety culture with an ethos of "safety first" across the teams, engaging to embed the highest levels of Health & Safety performance and reporting, ensuring risks and issues are actioned immediately in line with Health & Safety regulations.

·        Set expectations with objectives, share best practice and manage, monitor, coach and develop team members to ensure that they maximise their performance, meeting the strategic objectives of the site, in line with Allicio behaviours, values and objectives.

 

 

Key requirements

·        Engineering Degree or equivalent together with a proven safety record

·        Proven Engineering Manager from manufacturing background, preferably food.

·        IOSH / NEBOSH qualified

·        Knowledge and experience bringing a Continuous Improvement culture.

·        Experience of leading a multi skilled team

·        Background in both mechanical and electrical engineering

·        Excellent communication skills and people management skills

·        Analytical skills, problem solving and root cause analysis.

·      Demonstrable experience of delivering against budgets and KPIs

·      Detailed knowledge of quality and food safety systems and processes

·      Ability to thrive on ambiguity/change and be able to push the business into new technologies/opportunities/directions

·        Demonstrable experience of role modelling Allicio values and behaviours

·        Demonstrable experience of driving cultural change across the business

·        Excellent influencing skills with the ability to clearly communicate objectives, provide feedback and get buy in at all levels.

·        Demonstrable negotiating skills

·        Strong initiative – a willingness to take on responsibilities and challenges.

·        Familiar with Microsoft Office programs and manufacturing related software e.g., M3, Redzone
