We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed candidate to the position of Second in Department for English, with a focus upon Key Stage 3 Lead. The post will provide an exciting opportunity for a member of the English Department to develop their professional knowledge, skills and understanding in supporting the HoD in leading the team. The role centres around leading the curriculum in Key Stage 3, managing both day to day administration plus the creative development of learning for both students and colleagues. It will also include taking on routine appraisals of staff within the team and supporting the HoD in wider managerial roles within the department.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of national developments in English and how they can be delivered engagingly at a school level. They will have the ability to both support colleagues and celebrate innovation so that they can monitor and evaluate colleague’s delivery of the curriculum effectively as well as provide guidance and creative solutions.
The post will be remunerated with a TLR2b allowance (currently £5,349). An additional period a fortnight of leadership and management time will be provided.
Bartholomew School is sited in the village of Eynsham 5 miles from Oxford (with easy transport links) and serves the surrounding rural area.
