Job description

Are you passionate about environmental and sustainability issues? How about a unique role working on a military estate in support of our Army customers? You’ll get to be part of supporting key environmental projects across the Salisbury Plain and Aldershot. Join a great team at Aspire Defence Services…

As an Environmental Advisor, you will support the delivery of environmental and sustainability objectives for Aspire. You will also support the updating and maintenance of the Aspire Environmental Management System through audits, inspections, and documentation review. You will work closely with the design, planning and construction teams to ensure that the environmental aspects of the Capital Projects are considered and implemented. You will also be responsible for data collection and reporting for business sustainability and environmental metrics.

You will collaborate closely with our Environmental Grounds Advisor to execute essential inspections of grounds maintenance features and uphold activities for Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SUDS) across Salisbury Plain and Aldershot. Furthermore, you'll deliver toolbox talks, training, and participate in site inspections and audits to ensure compliance with environmental standards.

To be successful in this role, you'll be responsible for liaising with design teams to facilitate DREAM assessments and conducting data collection and auditing for Operational Phase DREAM Assessments. Additionally, you'll provide vital input and support for planning applications and coordinate specialist surveys while managing on-site environmental consultants.

To excel in this role, you must hold a full driving license and possess a degree in an environmental, sustainability, or science-related subject. Essential qualifications include a solid understanding of fundamental environmental and sustainability principles, along with prior experience in consultancy, construction, design, or a sustainability role. Membership of IEMA and familiarity with areas such as sustainable procurement, contaminated land, ecology, biodiversity net gain, and archaeology would be advantageous.

Exceptional written, numerical, and communication skills are crucial, as well as the ability to manage and analyse data effectively. A proactive, flexible approach to work, coupled with attention to detail and the willingness to support team members, are essential traits for success in this role.

But first, meet the team…

With a 35-year contract, making soldiers’ lives better is at the heart of everything we do at Aspire Defence Services.

Seriously, picture a heart (the real one) and imagine how hard it works to keep the body running, making sure every part gets exactly what it needs to thrive. That’s our mission; to deliver a modern, fully serviced, flexible working environment for soldiers.

And just as the heart needs certain parts to keep the body alive, we need the dedication and commitment of our people to support our customers. We deliver a broad range of services for one-third of the British Army living and working on our patch, and we're proud of the work we do.

We’re all about nurturing great teams, and our award-winning safety and wellbeing initiatives are built on keeping an eye out for one another and having a good work-life balance.

In addition to being part of our team, you’ll also get…

  • Up to 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, as well as the option to buy holiday
  • Contributory Company Pension Plan matched up to 6%, plus individual life assurance
  • Birthday Day Off Scheme
  • Cycle to Work and Tech Scheme
  • Discounted gym membership at Aldershot and Tidworth Leisure Centre
  • A shopping discounts scheme
  • Employee assistance and health and wellbeing check ins
  • Reward and recognition to celebrate outstanding achievements.
  • Company van and Free on-site parking

Salary: Dependent on skills and experience
Location: Tidworth ABC
