Environmental Engineer (Sizewell C)

Location: Bristol or Suffolk, with travel to London (hybrid working arrangements).
Employment type: Permanent full-time/ part-time.
Employment basis: The role is expected to be a full- time position however we are open to discussing a more flexible or part- time approach where possible.
Salary: £35,000 - £40,000, plus bonus and other benefits.

The Opportunity

Come and join our expanding Sizewell C (SZC) team and work on one of the most exciting and largest megaprojects in the UK, whilst being at the forefront of the UK's climate change agenda and energy policy. Following on from the success of Hinkley Point C (HPC), the SZC Project is a nuclear new build project in Suffolk, which has obtained planning approval and Government financing support. The project is now seeking private investment with a view to start construction in 2024. When completed, it will provide dependable electricity to 6 million homes for 60 years, which along with renewables, will support Britain to achieve Net Zero by 2050.
We have a fantastic opportunity for an Environmental Engineer to support SZC in ensuring that the project complies with the relevant environmental permits relating to Water Discharge Activity, Combustion Activity and Radioactive Substances Activity.
Our teams are set up to work flexibly, with a hybrid working approach between our offices and your home. We provide a full suite of IT equipment to ensure that our employees can work from home comfortably and effectively.
The Role
You'll support a range of activities including project scheduling, commercial reporting, risk management and regulatory engagement with the Environment Agency.
Working within our Environment team, you'll help to ensure all equipment contracts and proposed design modifications related to SZC have the right level of environmental oversight.
Additionally, you will be supporting the development of arrangements for compliance with the WDA, RSR and CA Permits under the ISO14001 Environment Management System.
The Skills
You'll need to be degree qualified or equivalent in an environmental, science, radiation protection or related discipline with knowledge of UK environmental legislation.
If you've got experience in the nuclear industry with knowledge of Environmental Compliance, that'd be a bonus.
The ability to problem-solve and be highly- organised with great communication skills is a must.
