Job Overview:

We are recruiting for a programme co-ordinator to work across a variety of environmental, commercial and funded projects that support communities to thrive.

Salary: £27,318 - £28,409

Hours: 37 hours per week worked flexibly, including some evenings and weekends

Job Purpose:

This is a key role to support the growth, development, and sustainability of Groundwork Wales as we support communities to thrive and be a resilient, healthier, and safer:

  • To lead on the development and volunteering delivery of community, environment, corporate and employment projects, creating and facilitating opportunities for local people and organisations to play a central part in environment, social and economic regeneration.
  • To lead project officers and teams, including undertaking supervision, appraisals and people management
  • To ensure all programmes are coordinated in a timely, appropriate, financially accountable and efficient manner

The ideal candidate will have a background in biodiversity, environmental and community work.

Main Areas of Responsibility:

  1. To lead project officers and teams, including undertaking supervision, appraisals and people management
  2. To report to funders including financial and progress reports
  3. Ensure meaningful outcomes (including management of accreditations) for participants and beneficiaries on programmes and projects and record progress using internal systems and those of funders
  4. To work in partnership with a range of partners including County and City Borough Councils, CVCs. Community groups, and other organisations to promote, facilitate and undertake employability, community and commercial environmental work
  5. To manage and mentor Project Officers ensuring appropriate workload and effective delivery
  6. To manage community programmes including volunteer management, health and safety, risk assessment and all other responsibilities
  7. To gather data to present reports on progress against targets to Groundwork Wales through maintenance of all internal project management processes
  8. To create opportunities for the participation and employment of marginalised and socially excluded individuals and groups in disadvantaged communities
  9. To support the sourcing of funding for continuation and new projects, supporting the Business Development Director
  10. To promote Groundwork Wale and any programme by giving presentations and talks to community groups and organisations
  11. To cultivate familiarity within Groundwork Wales with current related legislation and best practice in community work
  12. To understand, support and carry out the requirements of the Groundwork Wales internal business processes
  13. To comply with all quality standards required
  14. The post holder must have a full current driving licence and access to a vehicle, and the ability to travel within South Wales on a daily basis
  15. To undertake any other duties, which may reasonably be regarded as within the scope of responsibility of the post as defined by the Line Manage
  16. To be responsible for managing and reporting concerns, and for putting into place procedures to safeguard children and vulnerable adults in the organisation
  17. To be responsible for the safety of personal information within your role, in accordance with GDPR regulations; to comply with the data protection principles and to ensure that personal data is not disclosed outside the organisation's procedures
  18. To be responsible for the Health and Safety of all clients, beneficiaries, volunteers and staff while working on Groundwork projects and sites

The successful candidate will be required to carry out an enhanced DBS check.

It is expected that you will have relevant experience relating to all of the above. Training, support and guidance will be provided as part of ongoing development.
